I received this book from Amazon a couple of days ago and have spent the best part of the last two days reading it from cover to cover. It is on a par with the other books in the "Real World" series, and has a wealth of practical info on the ins and outs of color management. If youre not in the upper 90th percentile of the color management guru ranks, youll get a lot out of this book; if you are new to the subject, this is a must! My only quibble is that I want more! I wish the authors had spent more time on scanner-based output profiling, since there has been so much of that going around, and I wish the authors had discussed the pros and cons of custom profiles. The so-called review by "William X." simpy is a personal attack, for unknown reasons, on one of the authors, and should be ignored. I am somewhat disappointed that Amazon would display this type of thing, but perhaps there is no human screening of reviews.

This is a great book. I had used Access to perform queries and generate reports a few years ago, but had forgotten the details, and I had never made a database myself. Recently I needed to make a database and some reports from scratch. Since I thought I was not a "beginner" I first purchased Microsoft Access Version 2002 Inside Out (by Feddema), which was a mistake. That book may be a suitable reference once you know the Access basics (and Im not even sure its that great a reference), but it didnt help me learn the basics. Then I got Step By Step and by following the chapters and the samples from the CD I was able to make rapid progress. The book is well written, easy to follow in a logical order and has examples of all the basic skills needed to create and use a basic database. It took two full days to go through the examples, but I learned enough to create the database I needed to make. It will also be a good reference for the occasional Access user who needs a refresher in basic skills. Highly recommended.

This book gives a decent description of patents, but its out of date. For example, it says the head of the patent office is called "Commissioner" when that was changed and the head is called "Director" and the "Commissioner" is actually the third in rank (second is "Deputy Director"). The book says the USPatent Office handles 200,000 patent applications, but the number is actually closer to 300,000. There have been significant changes in the patent laws such as publication of applications, 20 year terms, WTO related provisions, NAFTA related provisions, WIPO and PCT related provisions, etc. that do not appear. So, take this book as background information only and know that in many instances it is obsolete. Recognize that patents are not a "do-it-yourself" activity if you want decent protection. See a patent attorney if you want accurate, up to date advice and worthwhile coverage. Stay away from the invention submission/promotion companies. Canon NB-1LH Battery Pack (850mAh) is a new improved version of old model NB-1L (680mAh) which numerically stored 25% more power. Better discharge (or simply shot out all the remaining power) and fully charge it before use. Last longer than most aftermarket packs, both in shooting time when LCD on and life cycle (its still working after 200 charge). IXY users need at least 2 extra. Its nonsense to buy used battery as it will exhausted and die. If price is a problem try some high capacity aftermarket (I have buy one 900mAh,too).

This movie is not very good. It received a lot of good word of mouth for some reason but really it stunk. The stars are not appealing at all. The humor is not creative at all. Think of every movie that you see about some ethnic group and they have them all in this movie. I was actually wishing the two main stars would not fall in love because I really didnt like them or care about them. The only funny moment was Grandma sipping on a Miller Lite. Very random! Overall, though, this movie [stinks]!

This is easily the best "As Seen On TV" product ever made (Id like to see Ronco top this marvelous machine). As I am writing this review, I am eating boneless skinless chicken breasts that were made on the George Foreman "Champ" Grill". They are so good that words cannot describe how good they are...just sprinkle some "Mrs. Dash Table Blend" on the chicken breasts before you cook them, put them on the grill, and have a great chicken dinner (only other thing you have to do is find something to go along with the chicken [maybe some white rice]). Cleanup is so easy its ridiculous! The nonstick surface allows you to clean the grill surface with a soft clean cloth or sponge (dampened with warm water, of course), and the drip tray can go in the dishwasher. Just yesterday I prepared some turkey burgers (from Wampler Foods) on the grill, and it is amazing how much fat will be drained from turkey burgers (even though turkey meat has less fat that ground beef [which is what hamburger patties are made of], it still has fat). The George Foreman Grill really does "cut the fat" from food!

I am not sure what all the others had problems with but my Linksys worked great out of the box. Setting it up I had an issue that was easily fixed by calling tech support,(only 5 min wait and worth it, the technician was very good). My laptop which will be connecting wirelessly was not connecting no matter what I tried. It turns out that you cant run wireless cards and ethernet cards (mine was built in} at the same time because the machine will always default to the ethernet card. Which is exactly what was happening. We removed the driver for the ethernet card and it began to work great right away. Everything else about the setup was fairly simple and went very smooth the directions were easy to understand. I especially liked the quick installation sheet which is what I used to setup with. I highly recommend this product and would buy it again if I had to do it all over. The distance of the wireless machine is really dependent on terrain. But for my two story house it was great. The only weak spot being downstairs in the opposite direction of the linksys base as far as I could go. However it still worked and was quite able to handle downloads even at the weakest point. You just cant go wrong till they come out with a new beakthrough in technology. But even then the prices will be to high in the beginning. For instance the new 802.11a is several hundred dollars more expensive then this machine. And for what you get I just dont need it. This is a winner. The newest version of the product is BEF11S4 VER 2. Many of the reviews done in this section were about the BEF11S4 its the same model number but lacking the ver.2 after the BEF11S4. The newest version has fixed most of the bugs of the previous version. Good Luck!!! A very satisfied consumer
