     grafted on a quince; me`li honey + mh^lon apple. Cf.
     Mellifluous, Melon.]
     A preserve or confection made of the pulp of fruit, as the
     quince, pear, apple, orange, etc., boiled with sugar, and
     brought to a jamlike consistency.
